It is better to be safe and not take risks. How far is this true?

I agree that this statement is true. There is another phrase which says, "better be safe than sorry". It is very hard for us to comprehend things which are about to happen as we do not know what the outcome will be like. Therefore being safe ensures that you are aware of what is going to happen and this will help to prevent that incident from happening.

It is foolish to look for excitement in dangerous activities. Do you agree?

I disagree with this. People want to participate in these dangerous activities nowadays is because of the thrill that they experience through it. If everyone were to think that these dangerous activities will only cause us harm and danger to us, then there will be no such thing as a first time experience and everything will be very mundane and boring. In my opinion, I feel that looking for excitement in dangerous activities helps us to push forward and to try on new adventures and to gain new skills to it as well.

Women in society. What are their roles these days?

In the past, a woman's job is just to look after the children and the house when the husband is away. But for now, it is likely to see women working in high-paying jobs due to the increase in education facilities. Some women are even entrepreuners! Heading a company and fetching a large sum to boost the income of the economy.

Qualities that you would look for in a friend.

"A friend in need is a friend indeed". This phrase tells us that friends are people who we can count upon and look up to in every situation. In my opinion, a friend has to be caring, considerate, thoughtful, generous, polite, kind, helpful, patient, loving and friendly.

Advancement in medical knowledge. Boon or bane?

I would say that advancement in medical knowledge has helped us a lot. Without the advancement of technology, we would all be living in a polluted and sick world. The advancement in medical knowledge has helped doctors and nurses to be able to find new cures for diseases to prevent an epidemic from happening. For instance, SARS struck the world in the year 2003, many people were afraid of living their homes as they fear being caught by this deadly virus. But with new technology and advancement in medical knowledge, doctors are able to find a cure for this virus and to put an end to this widespread disease.

Would the world have been a safer place and cleaner place without science?

I disagree with this. The world that we live in is made up of science. The buildings that we see, the computers that we use, and the televisions that we watch have concepts of science in it. Science has brought about light for us. Without the invention of light, imagine how dark the world will be. And going out will be so much difficult without any street lights. Cars would only have to be driven by day in fear of causing any road accidents just because drivers can't see another car making a turn. Science has its own uses which enable us to be so efficient in the society today.

Chinese New Year celebration with my family

It started of with a reunion dinner the night before on the 6th February at home with just my family. A lot of preparations were put in place before the actual dinner even though it was just a mini steamboat as not many of our relatives will be joining us on this occassion. Preparations started as early as 2pm in the afternoon and it lasted till 6pm in the evening. At 7pm sharp, we started our steamboat and it was really a sumptuous meal. After dinner, we decided to have a short movie marathon just before the countdown to usher in the New Year.

I went with my family to my grandmother's house to visit my relatives. We had a great time catching up with one another, receiving red packets, and just enjoying ourselves. It was really great and I had a fun time celebrating this festive occassion with my friends and families.

Targets and Expectations

This year it's the year in which I will be taking my final exam for my secondary education which is the G.C.E 'O' Levels. It will be quite a stressful and tiring year for me as I have to put in all my effort into completing this obstacle which has been set before me. For that, my plans for 2008 is to put in more effort into what I'm doing hoping to achieve great results from it. I will have to study hard for all of my subjects and put in extra effort into revising them. I will spend at least 5 hours a day on weekdays to concentrate on my revision for my subjects and to complete assignments, and on weekends I will spend at least another 6 hours on it depending on what I have on that day. I will cut down on unneccessary distractions that will distract me from revising such as tv, computer, etc. I will have to persevere for the next few months in order to achieve the goal and target that I have set in place, and I know that I'm going to achieve it!

How I Spent My Holidays

The last November and December vacation was a relaxing one for me. On December 2, I went with my family to Melbourne, Australia for a well-deserved vacation. It was really fun and exciting as we went to different places and visit different sites such as museums, zoos, palaces and places with great breath-taking view as well. It was a fun and relaxing trip there as we followed a tour group there and I made a lot of new friends there as well. During Christmas, I went over to one of my friend's house for a Christmas party and a stayover as well. It was really fun as we hadn't met each other for a long time and we had a great time catching up with one another.
